Itaconic?acid?based superabsorbent polymer with high gel strength and biocompatibility

An elaborate surface-crosslinking method was introduced to enhance the low absorbency under load (AUL) and liquid permeability of itaconic-acid-based superabsorbent polymer (SAP). The effects reaction parameters absorption properties SAP were investigated. increase in content distilled water 1,4-butanediol used as solution improved AUL SAP, whereas an resulted a sharp decrease centrifuge retention capacity (CRC) SAP. Therefore, controlling is effective strategy improve while maintaining CRC some extent. Increasing temperature tends highest at 160 °C. As result, prepared optimal conditions showed CRC, 36.0, 27.2 g g–1 80 s, respectively. cell viability cytotoxicity on human dermal fibroblasts confirmed using live/dead assay adapted from ISO 10993-5 protocol.
